With entertainment high on the agenda for the homeowners, work surfaces that are durable and beautiful were a prime requirement for their kitchen redesign.

Moving into a new property, the couple were faced with updating a kitchen that hadn’t had any TLC for over 30 years, with transforming the space into one that was comfortable and practical for spending time with family and friends being key.

The 1970s chalet style property, in Leamington Spa, is now home to the couple and their two young children, with the family keen to create a kitchen that was in keeping with the style of the property overall. The family worked with local retailer Barras Home Improvement on their new kitchen extension, with the result being a traditional design with a modern feel, featuring traditional shaker style furniture topped by CRL Quartz worktops.

Traditional elements, such as a Butler’s pantry unit which kick-started the theme of the design, and vintage style lighting, combine with modern touches including drawer dishwashers, American-style fridge freezer and all-in-one hot tap, to create a practical family space that is also big on style.

Complementing the Limestone cabinets and Steel Blue island and wooden parquet flooring, the Soft Concrete surface was fabricated for the homeowners’ new kitchen by Intamarble Ltd. The surface adds warmth and something of an industrial finish to the space for that all-important modern twist, particularly with the inclusion of a traditional Belfast sink

CRL Quartz is an engineered quartz stone that is scratch, heat and stain resistant, and which unlike natural materials such as marble never needs to be sealed. Requiring minimum maintenance to keep it looking as good as new, the non-porous surface makes cleaning simple too.

Offering a versatile design solution CRL Quartz is available in a choice of colours, including Soft Concrete, all with a polished or honed finish. In thicknesses of 20mm and 30mm, the surface comes in an extra-large format slab measuring 3.2 x 1.6 metres, allowing for greater consistency in design over large spaces such as kitchen worktops, another advantage for the familys new kitchen with its large island unit

Ideal for the kitchen where durability and flexible design are crucial, CRL Quartz enables the latest trend in natural surfaces to be incorporated into their new kitchen with ease. Extremely hard-wearing and easy to care for, the CRL Quartz worksurface was the perfect choice for their kitchen, creating a stunning space that is also highly practical for their young family.
